Coalinga-Huron Library District Internet User Guidelines

  1. The Library’s Internet is limited to one hour per day per library customer to provide equal opportunity for all residents to access the Internet. Fines must be under $5.00 to use the Internet.
  2. Each user must have a valid San Joaquin Valley Library System library card and PIN to reserve a computer.  Out of town guests can request a one day guest card with valid picture ID.
  3. Using another customer’s library card to access the library’s Internet will result in the loss of privileges for one month.
  4. All Library customers must abide by the Library’s Internet guidelines and Behavior Policy. Violations may result in the loss of computer and/or library privileges.  Library customers may appeal any termination of Internet use privileges by completing a “Request for Internet Re-instatement” form to be reviewed by the Library Director.
  5. The Library’s Internet access is filtered. Filtered websites may be disabled for lawful purposes and bona fide research. Ask Library staff for assistance.
  6. Users may not alter software configurations or cause degradation of system performance.
  7. Users may not use any Library computer for any illegal or criminal purpose. Unlawful activities will be reported to local law enforcement.
  8. Users may not violate copyright laws or software licensing agreements when using Library computers.
  9. The Library computers are in public areas. The Library asks each user to exercise good judgment and consideration of others when using the computers. If Library staff become aware of subject matter that would interfere with the maintenance of a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment for the public, the user will be asked to end a search, change screens, or move to a more private screen.
  10. Library staff will provide basic assistance to computer users but cannot provide in-depth instruction.
  11. Computers will automatically turn off 15 minutes before closing. You must save to a personal storage device or print before that time.
  12. Black and White copies are available for 20 cents per page. Pick up and pay for print jobs at the circulation desk.
  13. If you are a student within the Library District (K-12 and West Hills Community College) you are allowed 10 free copies for a school report (not homework). The pages can be any combination of photocopies, Internet resources, or databases. You are allowed only one black and white picture. The rest of the pages must be information for the report.
